Volunteer Orientation Summer 2023 Cohort

Please take 5 minutes to read the folllowing description for this program:

This is a three hour orientation to Franklin Canyon Park, home of the William O'Douglas Outdoor Classroom and host site for CNC Public Programs. Volunteers are vital to CNC as they inspire students to love the outdoors and (re)connect with nature, engage with the community through public programming, create virtual content, and support outdoor equity for all and help advance the Community Nature Connection mission statement. This orientation will consist of an hour long introduciton to the Sooky Goldman Nature Center and history of Franklin Canyon, followed by a tour of the park. Coffee, tea and light breakfast items will be provided, if you have any fod allergies please include this information in your registration.

What to bring & how to prepare:

• Bring a water bottle and additional snacks if you desire
• Weather appropriate clothing & layers if nessesary
• Please familiarize yourself with the following: Covid Guidelines 
• DIRECTIONS: Prior to the event please review the following Directions to Franklin Canyon Park which will direct you to the Sooky Goldman Nature Center and Nothern Parking Lot. Please use the southern entrace to Franklin Canyon Park ONLY (see details below regarding northern road closure).

*****Due to road damage the northern entrance to Franklin Canyon (via Coldwater Canyon) is currently closed! Please use the southern entrance (via Beverly Hills Drive) to access the park.****
