About the Event
With such an ubiquitous presence, there is plenty to learn from these great beings! During this Naturalist-led program, we will be able to connect with different species of oaks at Franklin Canyon, and learn about their cultural and ecological importance throughout history, and the issues they face today. We will find that oak trees are truly pillars of the community.
This program will give us a chance to feel grounded and learn at a mellow pace. We will be near picnic tables, but feel free to bring any blankets or chairs that you’ll feel comfortable on. After the program, you will have the option to meander around the park and appreciate the majestic oaks!
*Note: Franklin Canyon Park is on occupied Tongva, Chumash, and Fernandeño Tataviam land and exists near the village of Kawenga.
