About the Event
We'll be taking a schoolbus together to Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro to watch the captivating grunion come up on the beach to spawn! Learn about the interesting mating rituals and biology of this curious fish. The program includes an auditorium program about the unique fish, the aquarium open for exploration, then a guided observation at the beach. During April, May and June (closed season), grunion may be observed but not touched. Spots are limited, so please let us know ASAP if you can no longer attend.
What to bring & how to prepare:
- Bring a water bottle, warm clothing, and a flashlight.
- Bring a face mask, which is required for the bus ride. Extra masks will be available at the event if needed.
- Please familiarize yourself with our Wavier & Photo Release Form. Copies of the Waiver and Photo Release Form will be given to you upon arrival to complete and sign. Signatures are required in order to participate in the program.
- DIRECTIONS: We will meet in the parking lot of the LA River Center to board the bus. You can park in the lot, which will be locked while we go to the Grunion Run.
- If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know, so we can open your spot to someone on the waitlist.
